How are you, my loving friend? I hope you are very well by the grace of Almighty Allah. Now I have a great experience. I would like to share with you my experience of the air journey.
My first flight is a memorable event of my life. I received a letter from my uncle at Chittagong together with a plane ticket. He asked me to go there and stay with him for a couple of days. The flight was on September 30, 2004. I reached the Zia international Airport about one hour before the flight. I had my ticket checked and my luggage weighed and took the boarding card. After about fifteen minutes the flight was announced. Going along with other passengers towards, I boarded the plane. My seat was by the side of a window. Just in front of me there was a sign with the words: “Fasten your seat belt. No smoking.” After a few minutes the plane moved along the run way and then began to take off. I saw outside. The houses below looked like doll houses, the paddy fields looked like green carpets and the rivers appeared as broad lines on a drawing sheet. The air hostess came with a tray in her hand and gave some light and delicious chocolate, fruits, and juices. In about 40 minutes the plane landed at Chittagong Airport and I came to my journey’s end. It was an enjoyable that filled my heart with excitement. It brought a change and recreation in my monotonous life.

Cyclone is a natural calamity. Before a cyclone is on the doorstep and you will not get enough time to protect. First of all, need to prepare an emergency kit containing a portable battery radio, torch and spare batteries, water containers, dried food and matches, lamp, portable stove, cooking gear, eating utensils, warm clothes and a first aid kit in waterproof bags. Secondly keep a list of emergency phone numbers on display. Thirdly disconnect all electrical things and turn off gas and water. Most important thing is that listen to your battery radio for updates. If you stay at home close shutters or heavily tape all windows, draw curtains and keep the door locked. Stay inside and shelter in the strongest part of the building. If going to a public shelter, take bedding needs emergency kit and books or games for children with you. Finally wear strong shoes and tough clothing for protection.

17. Write a letter to your friend describing your experience of extinguishing fire.

Thank you for your letter. I hope you are fine. I really enjoyed reading about how you saved a drowning boy. You wanted to know about this kind of experience of mine. I'll tell you today about my experience of extinguishing fire.
This happened in our house, a few years back. We were sitting on the dining room, having just finished our dinner. Suddenly a strange smell alerted us and we suspected there was something burning in the kitchen. Now, the position of our kitchen is as such that we can’t clearly see what’s happening inside without standing in front of the kitchen door. We rushed there to see what was happening and was shocked to see a raging fire in the kitchen. Someone forgot to turn the stove off and somehow the clothes hanging in a nearby wire caught fire.
The fire spread from there to the kitchen corner, where I had stored the unnecessary newspapers of our house, to be sold off the next day. The stack of paper caught fire easily and soon the entire kitchen was on fire. My father told me to get some water from the washroom while he tried to move some of the more flammable things away from the kitchen door. My younger brother and my mother evacuated the house and started warning the neighbors. Me and my father collected water in turn and splashed the water over the raging fire. The fire stopped after 15-20 minutes, by then some of the neighbors have joined us and someone actually called the fire brigade to help. We came to know that from their blaring whistles. They took over the job then and helped us clearing out the burnt things.

18. Write a letter to your friend describing a book fair you visited.

How are you? I am well. In your last letter you wanted to know how I felt visiting the book fair last Friday. Well, now I am telling you.
The fair is popularly known as ‘Ekushey Boi Mela’. It is held every year at the Bangla Academy premises for about a month from 1st February in commemoration of the Language Movement. There was a large number of well decorated and attractive book stalls standing in circular rows. There were many books of different kinds written by the famous authors. All the leading publishers took part in the fair. The stalls of the Bangla Academy, the Islamic Foundation and Mukta Dhara were remarkable. The Education Minister inaugurated the fair amidst great enthusiasm.
My younger brother and sister were with me. We went round the stalls and bought some well-known books. Sanitation and security arrangements at the fair were laudable. I met there some great personalities like Prof. Dr. Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, Prof. Kabir Chowdhury and novelist Humayun Ahmed. I took their autographs. Bangladesh is rich with various types of foods which enrich our culture and make it familiar among the people of other nations in the world. There are different types of foods in Bangladesh which are totally dissimilar from one another from the side of taste and value. Generally, rice, dal, fish, vegetable and meat are our main dishes and the people of Bangladesh take three meals in a day. In the morning, we take breakfast where the urban people take ruti, porota, biscuit, vegetable, chicken, tea etc. and the rural people take muri, khoi, pitha or stale rice with chilly. In lunch, the people of different range take different foods according to their own choice and demand. Most of the people take rice, dal, vegetable and fish in their lunch. There’s a common saying: “Fish and rice make a Bengali.”

At the time of cooking our cook uses different types of spices like garlic, peppers, turmeric, onion, cinnamon, coriander, cumin, or mustard seed etc. that make our foods more tasty. In our daily meals we generally take mixed vegetables, fish bhuna, fried okra, Bhorta, fried eggplant, chicken curry, lentils, Egg curry, beef, mutton etc. with rice. Again in our snacks we normally take Paratha, Samosa, Singara, puri, fried roti stuffed with eggs, Naan, Pitha, Mishti Doi and Ras Malai. After taking our meals we usually drink tea, milk and cool drinks. We also take various types of fruits in our leisure time;  mango, jack fruits, banana, pine apple, are, apple, guava, water melon and other seasonal fruits orange taken according to the season and choice.
